Firstly, the web browser of the mobile phone stopped working. I just installed Opera Mini on the phone, and the problem was solved. No problem, really.

Then, I got a big problem. The phone restarted on the most weird times; in the middle of a phone call, while doing nothing (it was just sitting in my pocket), while playing a game or even when just starting up the phone. Then, I was done with the phone.

3 months ago, I got the Sony Ericsson S500i and I didn't had a single problem with it yet. In my opinion, the interface, speed, performance, software and just the whole thing is way better than the Nokia. I'm sticking with Sony Ericsson!

So to show you what the problem was with the Nokia phone, I produced a news video about it. Here it is:

I hope this explains to you all guys to be very careful with the phone or don't buy it at all. Why am I saying this: this phone is still being sold as a 'new phone' in your local phone store.

PS: I didn't contacted Nokia Support, because in my opinion a mobile phone in this price class just should be designed to work. I just bought my Sony Ericsson-phone, and the Nokia phone is now just resting in it's box in my tech closet, waiting untill it's booted up again.

I'll be interested to find what other phones support vernacular UNICODE rendering. When I tried this on other Nokia models (incl. the high end N-series) and other phones, bought from outside of Sri Lanka, the fonts simply did not render properly.

And the answer to Chamath's question is yes, the 3110c natively supports Sinhala and Tamil SMS messaging, though I've never figured out how to type out a message in Sinhala. The entire menu system can also run natively in Sinhala and Tamil (and some Indian languages incl. Hindi). The Sinhala script is very legible and clear, more accurate in rendering in fact than Sinhala on my Mac.
